Alfa Romeo's 159 model is again receiving an upgrade, this time in the form of two new engines and trim levels. Both the new engines will be particularly focused on delivering more power and torque but, at the same time, reducing fuel consumption and cut CO2 emissions.
According to the manufacturer, the first engine to join the range is the 1,750i turbo gasoline unit featuring direct injection and producing 200 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. This lightweight engine is capable of pushing the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. It achieves a fuel consumption rating of 34.9 mpg (6.7 l/100km) while releasing 142 grams of CO2 per km.
The second engine is a diesel 2.0-liter unit that produces 170 bhp and helps the car go from naught to sixty-two in 8.8 seconds. CO2 emissions are rated at 142 g/km, while fuel consumption goes around 52.3 mpg (4.5 l/100km).
There are two new trims available, Turismo Sport - which comprises features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and sporty dials - and Elegante - rear parking sensors, luxury Alfatex interior and all features available for the Turismo Sport version.
Pricing will start at 21,800 pounds (24,700 euros) for the Turismo version equipped with any of the two engines, the aforementioned source wrote.
There are two versions available for the new 159, the Progression and the Distinctive. However, buyers could until now choose from three trim levels: Sport (available only for Progression (17 inch rims, black/red interior, aluminum finishing), Premium (leather seats, multi-zone climate control) and TI (19 inch rims, black leather interior, sports seats and steering wheel).
