Alfa Romeo 159 Photos Leaked Before 2009 Geneva Show

Car manufacturers all over the world prepare themselves for the upcoming 2009 Geneva Auto Show any way they can. Intentionally or not, they all try to catch our eye with photos, specs or teasers that find their way to the masses “unofficially”. So did photos of the 2009 Alfa Romeo 159, along with some specs of  the car's performance, which have been posted by autoblog.it.

The two versions of the mid-size sedan, officially to be unveiled at the aforementioned show, will receive new powerplants as well as a restyled look. The first version, the 159 1.8 TBi, will be powered by a 1.8l turbocharged direct injection petrol engine that produces 200 horsepower.

The unit is built on a front-wheel electronic Q2 differential drive platform. The engine will be controlled by either a manual six speed gearbox or a six speed automatic transmission. The second powerplant for the 159 is the JTDm diesel engine. This unit is a new variant of the four cylinder JTDm diesel, capable of putting out 170 horsepower.

2009 seems to be a very busy year for Alfa Romeo. The future Fiat-Chrysler alliance helped us get another glimpse at the future models of the Italian manufacturer. Chrysler LLC's unveiled in their viability plan presented on Wednesday to the US Government the names of two other models their partners plan to release.

The Milano, which will replace the entry-premium model 147, and the Giulia that will reportedly replace the 159 we talked about earlier. Both models are expected to become available sometimes over the next two years and will be sold in the US as well.
