It’s no secret that German tuners ABT Sportsline have customized the new Volkswagen Beetle, as they’ve already shown a custom exterior shell at the Geneva Motor Show, together with a bunch of other Audis and VWs.
But today we get to find out what’s under that skirt... sorry, bonnet. The most powerful engine available to the 21st century Bug is of course a 2.0-liter turbo. But this hasn’t got enough pulling power to ever make the Beetle a hot car.
If the German automaker never makes the Beetle R, than this 240 horsepower tuned Beetle Turbo is your best bet. To be honest, that’s still not enough to win any races against any modern hot hatches, but you’ll still have bragging rights in the car park.
And speaking of street-cred, the ABT Beetle comes with a few cosmetic touches, carbon-look deco set, headlight covers, rear light covers, a licence plate insert, ABT wheels in CR and CR designs and a new exhaust system with two tips.
