Currently, BMW is almost ready to 'tear up' the roads in two general directions – the all-new M5 sedan and Touring are coming with plug-in hybrid oomph under the hood, and the 'Neue Klasse' visions paint the picture for future EVs.
As far as the M5 series is concerned, while it won't escape the polemics regarding the current styling direction, it certainly won't be as controversial as current models like the M2, X2, M3, M4, iX, X7, XM, or the 7 Series and i7. Plus, it doesn't go to extremes like the 'Neue Klasse' – although the rumor mill thinks it might have a problem with its excessive weight.
Anyway, a lot of things are coming from BMW in the near future, including an interesting BMW-Rimac battery supply deal that will allow a full-circle moment for CEO Mate Rimac. As a side note, he started his journey across the automotive industry with electric BMWs done unofficially, and almost a decade and a half plus a Bugatti-Rimac corporation later, he's electrifying BMWs with new battery power all over again, though on a much larger scale.
As such, with quirky designs and the audacity to ink deals with companies that belong to its foes, you can't say BMW lacks the capacity to think outside the box. Thus, we are not in the least bit surprised that some folks think the Bavarian automaker could even succeed in one direction that its main rival, Mercedes-Benz, failed spectacularly – ritzy pickup trucks.
Well, at least this bodacious step is undertaken across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, so there's no harm done and no foul play in the middle. Instead, this virtual artist, better known as SRK Designs on social media, has decided to trust his CGI instinct and come up with a dreamy BMW pickup for his encompassing truck series.
Previously, his visions included just about everything, from a tiny two-door Suzuki Jimny pickup truck concept (pictured in the second video embedded below) to an Audi pickup truck or a Lexus GX with a truck bed instead of an SUV body shell. Heck, this pixel master even considered a BMW semi-truck as a worthy option to digitally fight the Mercedes-Benz eActros and especially the Tesla Semi, so a mid- or full-size BMW pickup truck is not exactly surprising.
Curiously, the humongous kidney grille finally works well on something – it's not vertical like on some models but rather squared, so it looks good on a big pickup truck body along with slim yet normal headlights that don't adopt the split-headlight lifestyle. The sides are sweeping, revealing this is a lifestyle model rather than a true workhorse, but unfortunately, we don't get to see the interior or rear design because the author only presents the traditional front-three quarters POV.
