Remember Alice? The promising all-electric aircraft designed to bring emissions-free commuter flights to the US has taken an important step towards certification. Its Washington-based manufacturer has selected an engineering company in the same state to develop the aircraft's production configuration.
TLG Aerospace is the name of the company that will be associated with the development of Alice, one of the most innovative aircraft of our time. The Seattle-based aerospace engineering expert will bring Alice closer to certification by developing its production configuration.

This is another milestone for Eviation, on a constant ascending path over the last few years. Among other things, it was named one of TIME Magazine's "100 Most Influential Companies 2023," and it secured orders for its all-electric aircraft worth more than $4 billion.

One of the largest commuter airlines in the US, Cape Air, plans to add 74 of these all-electric aircraft to its fleet. The mid-sized zero-emission airplane will soon carry passengers not just across the US but also to more exotic destinations like the Caribbean.

A brand-new Mexican airline called Aerus, based at the Monterrey Airport (MTY), also committed to purchasing 30 Alice aircraft. Alice is ideal for connecting areas where currently there are no available flights, such as certain routes in the northern region of Mexico. This all-electric alternative corresponds to two major aviation trends – sustainable operations that don't negatively impact the environment and increased connectivity in challenging areas for conventional aircraft.

Towards the end of last year, Eviation wrote history with a groundbreaking maiden flight. Alice lifted off from Grand County International Airport (MWH) on September 28, 2022. It reached an altitude of 3,500 feet (1,067 meters) and stayed in the air for approximately eight minutes before returning to the airport. This milestone came after years of research and development, culminating with the display of an advanced prototype at the 2019 Paris Air Show.

Alice will be configured as a nine-seater (plus two pilots) capable of operating in any environment where conventional piston and turbine airliners currently fly. It combines a significant payload (2,500 lbs/1,134 kg) with a 440-nautical mile (506 miles/814 km) range on a single charge. Alice has the configuration and range of a regional aircraft, perfect for middle-mile travel. In terms of speed, it can reach 250 knots (287 mph/463 kph).

Alice owes a lot of its impressive capabilities to magniX, the electric propulsion expert that developed the magni650. Eviation's aircraft will sport two magni650 electric propulsion units. magniX was also selected to equip the future Airbus eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing).

The future all-electric commuter also pairs its top-level performance with lavish comfort. Two years ago, it unveiled a luxurious cabin with large windows, elegant seats, a fully-equipped galley, and lots of storage space.
