The same basic tiny house floorplan can have surprisingly different results. It's all about interior design and creative customization. One of the most popular models in the Sunshine Tiny Homes range, the Coastal Escape, was given a sophisticated vibe in this dreamy style interpretation.
Many tiny living companies started out with the bold vision of one person who dared to dream big, and this Canadian brand is no exception. The force behind Sunshine Tiny Homes is Pam Robertson, a woman determined to make a difference in her community. She saw that, beyond the fun aspect of tiny home living, this could be a solution to stringent issues that are affecting people everywhere.

With a background in occupational health and safety, Pam was primarily interested in making people's lives better in terms of decent, affordable housing. Much more than a successful tiny house entrepreneur, Pam became an advocate for this lifestyle and for housing-related social matters. She was the President of the Tiny Home Alliance Canada. Today, Pam continues to be an active board member of the organization, also serving as its International Communications Director.

The company that Pam Robertson founded takes its inspiration from British Columbia's famous Sunshine Coast. This is where it's located, in Port Mellon, a perfect environment for tiny homes. Not every builder is open to a high degree of customization, but this Canadian brand is one of the few who are. It offers only a handful of designs (all CSA-approved), but each customer is invited to personalize them according to their dream home vision.

This personalized version of the Coastal Escape demonstrates the great impact of customization. In this particular case, a typical tiny house floorplan was transformed into a dreamy, inviting home with a sumptuous atmosphere, all thanks to carefully chosen details and high-quality additions.

It was officially the second Coastal Escape home built and delivered by Sunshine Tiny Homes. Jane, the owner, got her dream house at the beginning of 2019, and she deserved all the praise she got for her good taste. The Coastal Escape 2 is a true reflection of its name. It looks and feels like a luxury beach house, flaunting an interior that's both relaxed and elegant.

When stepping inside, some of the first things you'll notice are the beautiful white-washed walls (typical for a beach house) and high-quality floors. These fir-sawn floors with an eco-friendly oil seal are a guarantee for durability and resistance, not to mention that they instantly elevate the overall style.

The open-plan ground floor layout doesn't place the kitchen next to the living room. Instead, they are intertwined, making the most of the home's width. That's because Coastal Escape isn't very long. At 24 feet (7.3 meters), this is the most practical approach, resulting in a generous living room that can double as a dining area for the kitchen.

Accommodation-wise, this home on wheels can comfortably welcome three to four people. In addition to the loft bedroom often found in tiny homes this size, it boasts a single Murphy bed in the living room. This custom addition is one of the elements that make the home's living room truly dreamy. When folded down, it becomes an extension of the couch, creating a generous seating (and sleeping) area for overnight guests.

Despite the size limitations, this particular living room feels much more spacious, almost lavish. The large couch and cozy armchairs are a rare feature for this type of layout, which typically only boasts a lounging nook for one or two people.

The absence of multiple oversized windows enhances this beautiful space's intimate, cozy atmosphere for relaxation and socializing. Plus, every décor item adds a stylish touch that makes this part of the house anything but basic.

Even the bathroom, a space often overlooked in small dwellings, becomes downright luxurious with the right elements. A full-size bathtub, an elegant circular mirror, and boho-chic decorative pieces are some of the key elements turning this into a luxury spa-like bathroom.

The same exquisite attention to detail makes the staircase connecting the main floor to the loft area better than you'd usually see with loft tiny homes. Adding an extra walkway step makes access to the loft instantly more comfortable and secure. In the long run, this simple customization makes everyday living inside a tiny home much easier.

Other than that, the staircase features the standard built-in storage, including a compartment for the fridge. The compact but elegant kitchen matches the rest of the house with its beautifully crafted countertop, premium appliances, and discrete cabinets.

The loft bedroom couldn't have been any less sophisticated than the downstairs living room. The custom feature wall highlights the white ceiling. Although modest in size, the room manages to squeeze in a tiny closet with open shelves by the bed. The boho-chic style contributes to a relaxed and cozy atmosphere that seems to make space limitations disappear.

Stylish and sophisticated, this 24-footer proves that customization can do wonders. Pricing for the standard design starts at CAD 130,500 ($95,000), but the experience of owning your dream home is priceless.
