I realized again today how obsessed I am with anything with an engine and wheels. I rode an ATV off-road, experienced an SUV in the same conditions, and drove my RX-7. And I'll have trouble sleeping until Wednesday when I'm testing a very special car.
I spent almost an hour window-shopping on Porsche's official website today, trying to figure out what color I'd paint my 911 GT3 RS if I could afford one. Choosing between Signal Yellow and Acid Green almost sounds like Mission Impossible, but that's the least of my worries. I know I will be a changed man after my test drive on Wednesday, and I'm finally striving to drive a 911 in the real world.

I hope that will happen within the next few months, and I'm eager to share the story with you once it happens. Until then, I'm left with driving one in Gran Turismo 7 and watching hours and hours of race track footage from various sources. While I miss going to a professional drag racing event, I've become bored of following street cars going at it.

I don't think I will ever get bored of seeing a match-up of cool vehicles going for a time attack session. My friend, Tobias Welti, organized something like this a few years ago at Anneau du Rhin in France. (I might go back later this year). Then, plenty of videos are coming out of Tsukuba where Feras Qartoumi shocked everyone with his C6 Corvette.

Today, I came across a very interesting challenge that I knew some of you Time Attack fanatics would appreciate. It's all going down in Greece at Serres Racing Circuit. It's a venue I'm fairly familiar with, as I first visited it back in 2011. I was there for many international drift events for years in a row. It's been my go-to venue for Motorcycle Road Racing action recently, where a few of my friends and colleagues have even done sub-80-second laps.

The people at the racetrack (and generally speaking Greeks) are very polite and friendly, and you'll have a great time racing there or just chatting. I almost rented a Porsche from a local company two years ago but couldn't do so due to a conflicting schedule. I can finally see the difference between the rental company's Honda Civic Type R, BMW M2, and Porsche 911 GT3.

Prices feel much more affordable than what I remember seeing at Spa or the Nurburgring, but the track is also smaller. The gap between the FWD, turbocharged Honda, and the rear-engine, RWD, naturally aspirated boils down to just over five seconds over the 1.980 miles (3.186 km) layout. Five seconds is almost an eternity for a short track, and it's exciting to see how the driver adjusts his inputs depending on the car he's in. I won't spoil the M2's result for you, but you might have guessed it's somewhere in the middle compared to its competitors.
