This particular red Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe looks somewhat familiar, doesn't it? That's because its owner, a guy from Russia named Andrey S., has been extremely active on the drag strips lately. And we've been busy reporting it.
His Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe is far from being in its original spec, having gone through a substantial tuning program which boosted its power to 700 hp. Apart from that, it's also got some visual alterations as well, but as opposed to most tuned cars we see on the streets, these have made their way onto the car for a reason: better aerodynamic performance.

Andrey's Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe (Morendi-Weistec, to give its full name) has managed to defeat some impressive opponents, including good old rivals such as the BMW M6 or the Audi RS7, all with tuning packages of their own. It also suffered defeats, one at the hands of a Chevy Corvette ZR1 with no less than 900 hp. But even that was close, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe falling behind only in the final half of the one-kilometer race.

AsThis time, he's up against a Porsche 911 Turbo pumped up to 650 hp. A Porsche will feel right at home on a race track, but they are known to prefer those with a little more bends than none. Still, after going through that tuning process which brought its power up to 650 hp, this is no regular Porsche anymore. You never know what to expect from it.

The cars line up and the green light brings the magic. Andrey has a fantastic reaction time and scoops off the starting line in 0.137 seconds. The Porsche driver is a little slower, taking 0.307 seconds longer.

You wouldn't guess it looking at the video, though. The Porsche, which comes with AWD, jumps in front right from the start and doesn't look back. At the 1/4 mile mark, it is nearly one second faster the Mercedes; at the end of the race, the gap is widened by 0.2 seconds. The top speed of the two cars was 273.55 km/h for the 911 and 267.85 km/h for the C63 AMG Coupe.

This results proves two things: one, you can never solely rely on power to get ahead and two, you really can't win them all. Never underestimate a Porsche would also be a wise conclusion...
