Once again, we bring you hot head to head action from the Street Car Drags private track even. This time, two unlikely opponents.
On the one side, you’ve got a car for keen drivers who want that sleek coupe body in their lives. The C63 AMG is quite the looker, even though it’s a boring black color. Meanwhile, on the left side of the track you have an AWD monster - the twin-turbocharged BMW X5 M.
The 555 hp of the stock Biemmer is more than enough for the aspirated AMG, but this has become even more of a sportscar rival thanks to some tuning work under the bonnet. What you have here is a full SUV running 11s, so you have to bow to the power of that turbo.
The AWD system of the M-tuned SUV is very quick off the line and the lead it picks up translates to a 12.44s time, ahead of the Merc’s 12.88. But in its defense, the AMG did finish with a higher top speed by about 5 mph (8 km/h).
