Do you like the Range Rover Evoque or any other really posh SUV the Germans rivals make? Than you probably know perfectly well why the Porsche Macan is the most important car in terms of sales that the company has ever made.
Taking that into account, it's not surprising that the rollout for the Macan has been huge. Most of Porsche's marketing efforts have centered around Germany's Leipzig plant where the car is made, but this event in Spain tops even that. On Saturday, March 8th, no less than 40 examples were gathered at the Olympic village in Barcelona.

Porsche organized the tour for media and customers, taking them from Barcelon to the Catalan Pyrenees using a fleet of Macan S and S Diesel models. Both models costing just under €60,000 in Germany today, we're looking at about €2.4 million ($3.3 million) in Porsches, all gathered together.

Both the S and S Diesel Macan models are powered by 3-liter engines. However, one is aimed at delivering power while the other has economy on its side. The diesel burner has only 258 PS, which is still enough for 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h. However the S petrol has an extra turbo and makes 340 PS and takes just 5.4 seconds to reach the magic speed threshold. We approve!… even if the economy is just 9 l/100km combined.

That's enough power for any SUV, but if "more" is a word you use often, know that a 400 hp Macan Turbo model is available. It cost a little (a lot actually) more, but 4.8 seconds to 100 km/h sounds seriously impressive. It also comes with the adjustable suspension every Cayenne lover has praised fitted as standard.

Let's welcome the Macan triplets into the world as they should be, with praise and a bit of cautious wariness!
