The C/K family of trucks is undoubtedly one of the favorites of the pre-owned and custom markets. The old bowtie-wearing workhorse has moved since its discontinuation in 2002 from a life in the trenches to one of glory and fame, oftentimes selling for more than the price of newborn trucks.
Take the current generation Silverado, for instance. In stock configuration, the pickup has an MSRP of $28,500, which is rather decent, all things considered. But many, much older bowties with a bed at the back easily top that, even in unrestored condition.

The Chevrolet Silverado K10 Stepside we have here is a perfect example of that. Born in 1987, and part of the C/K family we mentioned earlier, it certainly shows its age, and no makeup was splashed on it to save appearances. Yet, the asking price is no less than $33,500.

Provided you have the skills and logistics to pull off some customization project, it could be a perfectly good purchase. Wrapped in Midnight Blue (the original paint), it doesn’t need all that many repairs on the body, so you’re pretty much left with massaging it to whatever shape makes you tick.

A very clean and tidy engine bay houses a 5.7-liter V8 in working order and tied to a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Aside from all of the above, this particular truck has a few other things going for it if considered for a special project for the year 2021. Because it is part of the Rounded Line generation (the third of the C/K family), it comes with a squarish body that can be shaped in a variety of new ways.

Then, this is a stepside, meaning that, among other things, the rounded wheel well arches at the rear are protruding outside of the bed, making for a very effective disconnect with the squared front.

Because we’re great fans of custom pickups, we can only hope someone snatches this one and starts working on it, and possibly even show it, completed, in the not so distant future.
