When Porsche introduced the 2016 911 Carrera GTS Rennsport Edition last fall, many people wondered whether the limited edition was worth its $149,330 price tag. With Zuffenhausen only offering 25 units of the custom GTS, though, demand wasn't exactly an issue.
Unfortunately, as it always happens, at least one speculator has infiltrated the select clientele and now one of the cars is up for sale. The price? Let's say the 2016 Rennsport Reunion-celebrating Neunelfer is now a pair of 718 Boxsters more expensive than it used to be (nobody buys Porsches for their MSRP, but the point still stands).
As we mentioned in the title, the rear-engined coupe is offered for $249,900, and that's not all. Whoever played the easy money card here also enjoyed the naturally aspirated charms of this 911, hence the 576 miles on the odometer.
As for the rear-engine coupe itself, since it's based on the Carrera GTS, this packs a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six that has been massaged to 430 hp. This edition is offered exclusively with a stick shift, but we can't be 100 percent happy about that, since Porsche's seven-speed manual is not the best three-pedal choice the Germans have to offer these days.
In terms of features, the edition packs a ton of standard goodies, from the 18-way power sport seats to the carbon fiber dashboard trim and others. When it comes to the exterior, the decals on the hood, roof, doors and rear decklid are mixed with 20-inch Sport Classic wheels.
Mind you, the Fashion Gray hue on the car is also used for the key fob, while the latter comes in a special leather case with the name of the model.
Speculators would obviously become extinct without customers, so we're pretty sure somebody will show up with the money for this otherwise superb Neunelfer. And that will be one hell of an expensive celebration.
