The members of the HHHT (Holy Hybrid Hypercar Trinity) are a demonstration of how similar go-fast numbers can be achieved using entirely different ways, with the three battling head-to-head in any kind of challenge you can imagine. Nevertheless, when it comes to the track-confined cars, Zuffenhausen doesn't have a motorsport version to match Maranello and Woking's customer racing schemes.
While the LaFerrari has its FXX K and the McLaren P1 gets the GTR incarnation, there's no circuit-only version of the Porsche 918 Spyder. As many Porsche models, though, the German automaker's halo car has strong motorsport roots.

The story of the gas-electric monster goes back to 2010, when Porsche introduced the 918 Spyder Plug-In Hybrid Concept. One year later, Zuffenhausen came up with the 918 RSR. Using a fixed roof, with gullwing doors, this was an obvious hint at a racing machine, but as we mentioned above, we never got to enjoy the fruits of that labor.

We're here to address that issue by giving you the rendering above, which shows a 918 Spyder racecar. Coming from digital artist Kd Kalim, the pixel arrangement sees the 918 keeping its open-roof configuration, but adding various attention-worthy elements.

We're talking about details such as the extra lights up front, which point to endurance racing, with the same being true about the hefty aero package. Oh, and let's not forget the RSR-inspired side layout for the exhaust tips.

Before we end this piece, we'll take the time to remind you the customer racing "competition" has brought benefits such as Ferrari becoming more permissive and allowing customers to also use their racecars outside events organized by the Prancing Horse. So Porsche stepping in would be a more than welcome move. Keep in mind that we used the quotes above since the FXX K and the P1 GTR race in their dedicated series, not against each other.

P.S.: Wonder if people would try to convert a 918 racecar to street use, as it happened with the P1 GTR.
