The Hyundai Palisade is in for a significant makeover, and we're not talking about the facelifted iteration, which debuted for the 2023 model year, but an entirely new generation said to be around a year away from being introduced.
It will feature a boxier appearance, like the smaller Santa Fe, and should feature similar lighting units at both ends. Right now, it's impossible to speak about some of the finest design traits, as the scooped prototypes were dressed in thick camouflage, complete with humps at the rear and the usual fake cladding.
Hyundai's all-new Palisade will also adopt a wide-screen layout in the cabin. The new infotainment system and digital cluster are placed behind a single pane of glass, and they're bound to be a strong selling point with tech enthusiasts. The cockpit will also feature a new steering wheel, center console, door cards, buttons, knobs, and so on, as previewed in a set of scoops dating back to last month.
It has been reported that the second generation of the brand's flagship crossover will transition to a different platform. It should be even larger than before, courtesy of the alleged longer wheelbase. Its cousin from Kia, the Telluride, will follow an identical recipe. The powertrain family is rumored to include a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which is said to retire the current V6. A partially electrified 2.5-liter mill is also expected, and the all-wheel drive system will probably be an option.
Ever since word came out that Hyundai is preparing a brand-new Palisade, rendering artists have gone wild trying to imagine it. The latest digital illustrations we came across, signed by Digimods Design and shared on YouTube a couple of days ago, are on the unrealistic side of things. The crossover is portrayed as having a soft design when we all know that it will be much boxier, similar to the mid-size Santa Fe.
We're not entirely convinced that its face will look like this, yet it is possible to some extent. The back-end design is certainly interesting, as imagined by the pixel manipulator, but again, it probably has nothing to do with the real thing. The same likely applies to the muscular wheel arches, the profile lines, and basically everything else, including the wheels with their turbine shape.
Rendering artists will eventually nail the look as the wraps gradually come off in the next few months, prior to the official unveiling, which is believed to take place next year. The current Palisade may enter the 2025 model year featuring a few modest revisions, and the new one is expected to launch as a 2026 model in the United States, bringing a new design, fresh technology, and a new powertrain family, likely at a small premium over the current one, which starts at $36,400.
