As promised by the rumor mill's spy photographers and a quick official teaser the day before the release, the American specialty brand has announced the Avenger 4xe for model year 2025, complete with subtle upgrades, not just a new powertrain.
In production since 2023 at FCA Poland in Tychy – which is also where manufacturing of the controversial Alfa Romeo (Milano) Junior will also take place – the Jeep Avenger subcompact crossover SUV is the company's smallest member of the family, positioned even below the tiny Renegade. It is twinned with the second-generation Peugeot 2008 and the entire slew of Common Modular Platform models like the Fiat 600, Alfa Junior, Opel Mokka B, or DS3 Crossback.

Currently, there are two models on the market – the mild hybrid 1.2-liter turbo with 99 hp and the all-electric variant packing 154 hp and 400 km (250 miles) of range thanks to a 54-kWh battery pack. Jeep promised to add a third option, Avenger 4xe, with the concept presentation at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, and then in February 2024, it announced the series-production model with the first pictures and details.

Now it's time for the official introduction as Jeep has revealed the complete specifications for the Avenger 4xe and the official start of orders – which is set to take place during the year's final quarter. Sitting between the two front-wheel drive models, the Avenger 4xe builds on the base model's mild hybrid setup with a Hybrid 48-volt powertrain featuring the 1.2-liter good for 100 kW (134 hp/136 ps) aided by two electric motors packing 21 kW each – the power is distributed to both axles through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

However, it turns out the combined system output is limited at 136 horsepower – the electric motors allow it to drive fully electric at low speeds, and the combined performance is 9.5 seconds to 100 kph plus a maximum speed of 194 kph (+10 kph) compared to the e-Hybrid FWD version. Because it's a 4xe, this Avenger comes with redesigned fog lights (positioned slightly higher and outward), mold-in-color front and rear bumpers, additional body cladding, new optional Hood Sticker, and new washable and durable seats.

Water fording capabilities have been increased to 400 mm, and the Avenger 4xe also features improved off-road angles: 22° approach, 21° breakover, and 35° departure thanks to the raised ground clearance of 210 mm (+10 mm). Jeep also brags about the powertrain's strong off-road points, like the 22.7:1 reducer placed on the rear axle, which boasts a rear-wheel torque of 1,900 Nm – enough to conquer slopes of almost 40% on gravel or up to 20% when there's no grip on the front axle. Also, at speeds up to 30 kph, traction is always 4x4 with a 50:50 split, becomes on-demand between 30 and 90 kph, and disengages to FWD above 90 kph.
