Earlier this year, Ford Motor Company announced the 2025 Ford Explorer and then swiftly revealed the premium 2025 Lincoln Aviator. Naturally, we wondered which one to choose among the mid-size crossover SUV siblings.
Obviously, the best and most hard-to-make choice was between the sporty 400-horsepower Ford Explorer ST and the luxurious 2025 Lincoln Aviator Black Label, as each had pros and cons. However, we never imagined that the Explorer ST could easily win the whole charade, not only thanks to its lower MSRP but also when treated to a brand-new face and some mods. Unfortunately, this all happens across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, so it's entirely wishful thinking.

Anyway, Ford and Lincoln announced the 2025 Explorer and Aviator with new faces, redesigned interiors, sleeker taillights, and more standard features (including big screens inside). The Ford CD6 platform and the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 remained the same, though. Some might not even be satisfied with the design changes Ford brought to the Explorer, including in ST form.

No worries, as Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks now is the right CGI time to play with Ford's 2025 Explorer – again. He explored the CGI situation a few times when the facelift wasn't official, but even after the company introduced all the changes and is one step away from revealing the 2025MY prices, he's not about to give up on his quirky idea that the mid-size crossover SUV would look a lot better with the front fascia and headlights inspired by the S650 seventh-generation Ford Mustang – especially the GT and Dark Horse models.

As such, here are a couple of CGI iterations with the 2025 Ford Explorer ST adopting the Dark Horse radiator grille style, Mustang GT's headlights, a fake hood upgrade, some posh black details with red lines, and even a complete Shelby-style aerodynamic package complete with white racing stripes. Naturally, the pixel master also reworked the wheel situation – the regular yet enhanced Explorer ST features larger aftermarket concave wheels, and the Shelby-like Explorer ST simply gets oversized variants of the OEM ones.

Obviously, the very aggressive treatment gives us lots of CGI food for thought. While the first Mustang-like Explorer ST envisioned in the posts embedded below doesn't call for anything else other than the 3.0L TT V6 under the hood, the second variant could easily see the mid-size CUV swap the smaller engine for the iconic 5.0-liter Coyote V8 and even slap it silly with a supercharger to warrant the Shelby vibes. So, what do you think? Is this a yay or a nay?
