MQB is the Volkswagen Group's main platform. Used for anything from subcompacts to full-size luxury crossovers, the modular platform received was updated to Evo specification in 2019 for the Golf Mk8. Audi currently uses the MQB Evo for the A3 series and China-exclusive Q6 that shouldn't be confused for the zero-emission Q6 e-tron.
Not long now, the Ingolstadt-based marque will debut a new model on the MQB Evo in the form of the 2025 Audi Q3. Spied testing in various parts of Europe like there's no tomorrow, the compact luxury crossover is closer in exterior styling to the Q6 e-tron rather than the second-gen Q3.

Aimed squarely at the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Volvo XC40, the newcomer is twinned with the upcoming Terramar from the Cupra brand. Spanish automaker SEAT allowed Cupra to be its own thing in 2018. By 2030, SEAT may be transformed into an urban mobility brand. Think microcars, scooters, e-bikes, and so forth.

Aggressively split headlights, a wide lower grille, and a slim upper grille make the 2025 Audi Q3 hard to miss in traffic. Apparently devoid of cladding around the wheel arches, the prototypes feature Y-shaped taillights. There is no full-width light bar to speak of. Given the busy rear lighting signature, a light bar certainly isn't needed.

Similar to the 2024 model, the 2025 Audi Q3 rocks door-mounted side mirrors. The cabin will borrow from both the Q6 e-tron and A3 hatchback. Speaking of which, prospective customers in the market for a high-riding Audi that isn't a sport utility vehicle should consider the new A3 allstreet.

Expected to be offered in SUV and Sportback versions, the third-generation Q3 should receive 1.5- and 2.0-liter powertrains of the four-pot variety. There's no case to be made for the Volkswagen Group's 1.0-liter turbo, which is better suited to the subcompact A1 and the Polo.

We further understand that both 48-volt mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids are in the offing. European customers will be further presented with the 2.0 TDI that succeeds the good ol' 1.9 TDI. Regardless of powertrain, the S tronic dual-clutch transmission (a.k.a. DSG) will have to suffice.

The redesigned Tiguan is dual-clutch only, and its most interesting powertrain is rated at 75 miles (120 kilometers) of all-electric range in the WLTP. The plug-in hybrid Tiguan eHybrid comes with a six-speed DSG as opposed to seven for the mild-hybrid eTSIs and purely internal combustion 2.0 TDIs.

Just like the Cupra Terramar, the redesigned Audi Q3 will be produced in Hungary at the Volkswagen Group's assembly plant in Gyor. Said facility started production in 1993. Last year, the Gyor production complex manufactured 176,493 vehicles and no fewer than 1,660,425 drive units, including electric drive units and the R8's 5.2-liter FSI V10 engine.
