Toyota may be a world-renowned and beloved Japanese automaker that usually functions like clockwork, but they're not beyond confusion. For example, starting August 1, two 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser models will become known to the worldwide audience.
The J300 Toyota Land Cruiser was presented during the summer of 2021 and is built on the body-on-frame TNGA-F version of the global Toyota platform alongside the XK80 Sequoia, N400 Tacoma, XK70 Tundra, latest GX 550, and the J310 Lexus LX. However, not everyone around the world has access to it – particularly in North America and Europe.

In America, Toyota decided to pull out the Land Cruiser nameplate and only rely on the J310 LX 600 to fulfill off-road family-oriented full-size SUV cravings. Safe to say that – if we read between the lines – that was a bad call. Luckily, the Japanese automaker is about to make things right, and two years later, in June 2023, it kicked off the teaser campaign for Land Cruiser's comeback to the United States.

One of the most hyped appearances this year – during a time when Toyota also launched major heroes like the Grand Highlander crossover SUV and latest Tacoma mid-size pickup truck, the 2024 Land Cruiser is going to get people confused because the rumor mill's alternate monikers (Prado or J/250) have fallen on the cutting room's floor.

So, from August 1, Toyota will also show the 2024 Land Cruiser for America – which is vastly different from the J300 Land Cruiser on sale across other regions like the Middle East and at home in Japan. No worries, everyone knows this version is a sibling to the newly introduced 2024 Lexus GX 550, thanks to the company's revealing teasers.

And even the imaginative realm of digital car content creators has taken notice, of course. So, there's an abundance of renderings with the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, and it's pretty hard to stand out in a crowd, right? Yep, that can easily get mitigated by some of them. For example, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has also taken up the task of revealing the next-gen Land Cruiser - in CGI, just like everyone else, but also with a twist.

In his renderings, the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is not alone but was unofficially presented alongside its 2024 Lexus GX 550 sibling. That way, it is pretty easy to spot the hypothetical differences. Those have to do with the front and rear, mostly, if we are to trust this unofficial source of information. While the Lexus GX 550 has an interesting take on the signature spindle grille that makes it a tad less obnoxious, its Land Cruiser counterpart focuses on squared design traits and deploys a vertical grille treatment along with simpler LED headlights.

In the rear, meanwhile, the slim LED taillights that stretch along the width of the vehicle are replaced with more straightforward elements and a chromed trim piece. Meanwhile, the profile is pretty much the same. Anyway, take all this with a healthy dose of salt, as the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has yet to be officially announced. Luckily, all mysteries will soon get cleared as the Japanese carmaker has set the official reveal date on August 1 at 21:20 Eastern Daylight Time (August 2 at 10:00 JST in Japan or 18:20 PDT). So, how do you like this quick CGI comparison – do you feel it is true or not?
