Toyota Gazoo Racing has delivered more than 100 units of the GR Supra GT4 racecar. This milestone deserves a celebration, and celebrate Toyota did with the unveiling of a special edition.
The GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Tribute is limited to 100 examples of the breed in Europe. No pricing information has been shared at press time, but from the looks of it, chances are that it's tremendously expensive. For future reference, the 2023 model is €52,850 in Germany for the four-pot engine. Leveling up to the six-cylinder powerplant means €66,450 at the very least, whereas the Moonstone Edition carries a sticker price of €72,250 in the continent's largest new car market.

Converted at current exchange rates, the latter means $79,145 at press time. It's uncannily expensive for a 'Yota with a BMW-sourced engine, but alas, new car prices have gotten out of hand irrespective of segment and country. In retrospect, it's a miracle the fifth-generation Supra even happened. Bavarian automaker BMW played a vital role in the development of the Japanese coupe, and Toyota was much obliged to accept the German rival's offer to revive the Supra alongside the Z4.

Described as a thoroughbred sports car with distinctive updates that emphasize the Supra's motorsport success, the GT4 edition is available with an optional rear spoiler inspired by the racecar. Equipped with matte-black alloy wheels of the lightweight variety, the limited-run coupe also stands out by means of an exclusive paint color dubbed Plasma Orange.

In keeping with the color of the 19-inch wheels, the brake calipers are finished in black as well. Hopping inside reveals black artificial suede for the seats and genuine leather for the shift knob. There's also a carbon insert that reads GT4 100th Edition Tribute, along with orange stitching for the trunk mat. Based on the Lightweight specification of the six-cylinder Supra, the special edition features the lower-spec engine.

The B58 comes in many tunes, yet this one produces 340 ps and 500 Nm at full chatter. The Supra for the US market gets 382 horsepower and similar torque. As it happens, Europe was denied the hotter tune over Euro 6 emission regulations.

The Supra for Europe doesn't sound as good either due to the industry-wide adoption of gasoline particulate filters. On the upside, this limited edition comes exclusively with the six-speed manual. The ZF 8HP isn't available despite being a seriously good automatic with quicker upshifts. The final drive ratio is more aggressive in the manual as well, namely 3.15 as opposed to 3.46 for the torque-converter automatic tranny.

Toyota says the GT4 100th Edition Tribute is 38.3 kilograms (84.4 pounds) lighter than a bone-stock automatic due to its gearbox, simplified audio system, and fewer seat features. The long-rumored GRMN is expected with even more draconic weight-saving measures, but only time will tell if the Supra Mk V to rule them all will receive the BMW M-specific S58 engine.
