Sitting almost at the top of the Lexus roster in America, the all-new J250-based 2024 Lexus GX 550 is now available for ordering in the United States, kicking off at $64,250.
That is almost $4k more than the 2023 Lexus GX 460, which features the 4.6-liter 1UR-FE V8 with 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft (446 Nm). It may sound like you are giving up on the mighty V8 engine for the 2024 GX 550, but in fact, the latter is light-years in front of its predecessor, even with a smaller, nimbler 3.4-liter V35A-FTS twin-turbo V6 under the hood.

That is primarily thanks to the switch to the Japanese automaker's modular TNGA platform, with the GA-F version standing for the body-on-frame derivatives. The company has already presented quite a lot of models using it – including the XK70 Toyota Tundra, XK80 Sequoia, N400 Tacoma, J250 Land Cruiser, J300 Land Cruiser, and the J310 Lexus LX 600. As such, are we surprised that people have started thinking about 'what if' scenarios involving the Lexus GX 550 getting a second body style – a full-size pickup truck variant?

More precisely, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is envisioning this wishful thinking possibility. For sure, some folks would gladly spend a little more than on a Toyota Tundra Capstone just to get the rugged and good-looking GX pickup truck if given the chance. After all, don't say that America's luxury pickup truck segment is dead and buried because otherwise, carmakers would start laughing when selling the Capstone, Sierra Denali, or F-150 Platinums, among others.

Anyway, this virtual artist, better known as SRK Designs on social media, has decided to trust his CGI instinct and come up with a dreamy GX pickup truck. Note that the GX 550 pickup truck that the pixel master imagined cannot be had with this light blue color in real life, but it is most likely an Overtrail or even Overtrail+ variant dedicated to off-road adventures with 33-inch all-terrain tires, Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS), Crawl Control, or Panoramic View with Multi-Terrain Monitor because those are the ones you can have in two-tone attire with a black roof.

So, do you think that a Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+ luxury full-size pickup truck would stand a chance if the SUV got extended from the mid-size to the full-size class to battle the ritzy members of the pack – like the Ford F-150 Platinum ($73,425), Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country, Ram 1500 Limited, Toyota Tundra Capstone, or the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali? Also, would it be enough to feature the same 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6, or should the company wait for the hybrid version to come out with Tundra and Sequoia's 437-hp i-Force Max powertrain?
