It is likely that you don't see the fourth-generation Tucson as an aging product, but it will celebrate its third birthday this September, and this means it's rather old. Hyundai is aware of this, and they are working on its successor.
Update July 14th: we've added 13 new spy photos to the 2024 Hyundai Tucson image gallery.

Mind you, despite the heavy camouflage seen on the latest tester, which was on towing duty in the Alps, the updates won't be that significant. Usually, this amount of disguise is reserved for vehicles that bring major upgrades to the party, but in this instance, they hide the tweaked front and rear fascias of the popular compact crossover.

From what we can tell, the face will largely carry over, but the Korean company's designers gave it a new grille and bumper. The DRLs signature and main headlamps are probably new, and the hood and front quarter panels should be the same, albeit adapted to fit the refreshed styling. The door handles and side skirts should be the same beneath the wraps, and out back, we expect it to get new taillights and bumper.

The license plate is still positioned in the middle of the tailgate, and stuff such as the roof rails and black cladding all around are understood to be identical. Hyundai might give it new wheels and colors, and judging by the amount of camouflage on the dashboard, they could be preparing a few updates inside. These will probably revolve around the two major screens and their software, but stuff such as an updated center console and new steering wheel might be part of the mid-cycle refresh.

In Europe, the facelifted Hyundai Tucson will likely be offered the same powertrain family comprising the 1.6-liter gasoline engines and the 1.6-liter electrified assemblies with up to 261 horsepower. All-wheel drive will still be reserved for the upper specs, whereas the base models will keep their front-wheel drive layout. Even though the testing and fine-tuning phase keeps advancing daily, we still don't know whether they will upgrade the engine lineup. Still, even if they do, we wouldn't expect any major changes.

In the US, the current Tucson lineup comprises the 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit making 187 hp and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque on the SE, SEL, XRT, N Line, and Limited, and will probably be left untouched for the facelift. Rounding off the offering are the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid variants, carrying MSRPs of $31,350 and $37,500, respectively. A base 2.5-liter-powered Tucson will set you back at least $26,900, excluding destination. It is possible that the facelifted iteration will slightly bump the prices across the range when it launches as a 2024 or 2025 model year, though our bet would be on the former, with a possible introduction this fall.
