The 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup gets a range boost! It's only according to General Motors for the time being, but the good news is that future owners of this all-electric monster will travel more on a single charge. That is, of course, true only if the preferred trim is the 3X. Here's the gist of it.
There's no denying that the Hummer EV Pickup is one of the most imposing vehicles on the road today. Besides that, they're bonkers fast! However, GMC understood that some of its customers would like to travel longer distances without recharging or to go off the beaten path and enjoy nature comfortably. Thus, the all-electric pickup truck gets 26 miles (42 kilometers) of range more when equipped with the largest 24-module battery. According to General Motors' measurements, it'll be able to drive around 381 miles (613 kilometers).

The range of the 2024 Hummer EV 3X Pickup drops to 359 miles (578 kilometers) when the owner adds the Extreme Off-Road Package, but it's still better than what the 2023 model year truck can currently offer. There'll be an increase of 30 miles (48 kilometers) of range, GMC promises.

The updated version of the pickup truck will go on sale this fall, and existing reservation holders will be invited to spec their units with the 3X package. It'll set them back at least $106,945, and that's without the Extreme Off-Road pack. The larger 24-module battery will be an option as well.

The 3X trim adds:
  • 22-inch wheels and beefy 35-inch All-Terrain tires;
  • 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk;
  • adaptive air suspension with Extract Mode (allows the vehicle to raise itself six inches above its normal ride height);
  • Watts to Freedom launch control experience (about which GM says you shouldn't use on public roads);
  • 0-60 mph (97 kph) in approximately 3.5 seconds with the standard 20-module battery;
  • 0-60 mph (97 kph) in about 3 seconds with the available 24-module battery;
  • Super Cruise.

GMC offers the Extreme Off-Road Package for those looking to fully enjoy the advantages of owning a zero-tailpipe emission behemoth. This changes the all-terrain tires into beefier mud-terrain ones, adds four underbody cameras, introduces a front e-locker and virtual rear locking differentials, and further protects the underbody with an "armor" consisting of five skid plates, as well as two underbody shields for the battery and the drive units. The pack also adds "heavy-duty" ball-spline half-shafts for better articulation in adventurous scenarios.

The truck's Chief Engineer, Al Oppenheiser, said he's excited about improving the range and taking it "farther than ever."

Production of the 2024 GMC Hummer EV 3X Pickup is set to begin this year at GM's shiny-new Factory ZERO in Detroit and Hamtramck.

Finally, remember that real-life range depends on a plethora of factors like temperature, terrain, battery age, loading, use, and maintenance.

Car shows on TV and his father's Fiat Tempra may have been Florin's early influences, but nowadays he favors different things, like the power of an F-150 Raptor. He'll never be able to ignore the shape of a Ferrari though, especially a yellow one.
