GMC mirrors the recent 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition announcement almost to the letter with availability later this year during the summer season, sub-100k starting price, 754 horsepower, and a higher 440-mile range on a single charge.
Earlier this month, General Motors finally announced the belated start of Chevrolet's attack on the full-size all-electric pickup truck sector, currently populated by the GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Tesla's Cybertruck. We don't count the Silverado EV WT because that one is just a workhorse, not the one that has a veritable impact on retail sales.

Back then, Chevy announced the 2024 Silverado EV RST First Edition would launch later this year during the summer season and sport a few sensible upgrades over the model they should have released in 2023. As such, gone are the MSRP of $105k and anticipated range of 400 miles (644 kilometers).

Instead, the automaker will send the EV into dealerships with an MSRP of $94,500, plus the $1,995 destination fee, and said it will be capable of driving up to 440 miles on a single charge even though it rides on massive 24-inch wheels. The towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds (4,536 kilograms), though, is below Tesla's Cybertruck, which is capable of pulling up to 11,000 pounds (4,990 kilograms).

As for performance, there are 754 hp and 785 pound-feet (1,063 Nm) of torque sent by the dual-motor setup to the front and rear axles. But why are we recapping everything? Well, put simply, GMC has announced the pricing details and updated technical specifications for the upcoming 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 and it's the same spec sheet as with the Silverado EV RST First Edition.

That includes the 754 hp and 785 lb-ft, the 10k-pounds max towing rate, and 1,450 pounds max payload (plus 500 and 150 lbs, respectively), plus the GM-estimated 440 miles of range. The 2024 Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 also has the exclusive CrabWalk mode with 4-Wheel Steer, the MultiPro MidGate and MultiPro Tailgate, as well as Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, optional Super Cruise on 750k miles of US and Canadian roads, along with 800-volt DC fast charging capabilities at up to 350 kW. That way, it can sip electrons for up to 100 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes.

"Denali has been an industry icon for 25 years, and the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 provides customers an exclusive opportunity to be a part of the next chapter," said Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC. "As a limited-run exclusive trim for launch, the Edition 1 is truly the Denali of EVs and represents the pinnacle of GMC."

Set to reach nationwide dealerships this summer, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will have a final starting MSRP of $99,495 instead of $107k as previsouly announced. The quotation, which includes the $1,995 destination and freight charges, is clearly a direct jab at the Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast, which kicks off at $99,990 with 845 horsepower, 320 miles of range, and 11,000 lbs. of towing capacity.
