Back in July, Chevrolet introduced one of its most notable changes to the 2024 model year lineup – the all-new third-generation Traverse mid-size three-row crossover SUV built on its signature versatility but added a more rugged flair that takes it closer to the full-size truck-based Traverse and Suburban.
Its Silverado-inspired looks come bundled with lots of active safety features, a "best-in-class 17.7-inch-diagonal touchscreen, available Super Cruise driver assistance technology, and more." Or perhaps less, would love to say the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, of course.

Since the beginning, in 2008, GM's Chevrolet Traverse always lived the lifestyle of a big, full- or mid-size crossover SUV built alongside models like the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook, or Cadillac XT6 on the Lambda platform for the first generation or the C1XX and C1XX-2 architectures for the second and third iterations, respectively.

Over the years, it has featured a 3.6-liter V6 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission or a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four for the second-generation RS 2WD model and a larger 2.5-liter turbo (plus eight-speed auto) moving forward with the third iteration. A traditionalist at the core, Chevy has presented the all-new Traverse with four classic trims – LS, LT, RS, and the fresh Z71 for off-road enthusiasts.

It also offers plenty of swoosh on the street with the 2.5-liter rated at 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, with the all-new Z71 also getting a unique off-road-capable twin-clutch AWD system to enable a max trailering rating of up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg). But what about folks trying to get the kids to school and to work on time during the week and then aiming to wind down during the weekend – should they be relegated only to off-road adventures?

According to the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, not at all. Instead, this virtual artist, better known as c_zr1 on social media, gives us CGI food for thought in the form of a Traverse-based 2-door Chevy RS Sport crossover SUV! Yep, the spirit of the Chevy K5 Blazer would be proud of this even if the goal is not to hit the trails but rather perform quite nicely on the street and perhaps even at the local quarter-mile dragstrip.

According to his vision, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse 'Coupe,' in essence a two-door SUV, would probably feature larger wheels with performance tires on them, additional glossy black body details, a lowered ride height, and – above all – just two doors and a much shorter wheelbase. Additionally, if allowed his way, the pixel master would switch the 2.5-liter LK0 turbo four-pot with the 460-hp LT1 6.2-liter V8 mill with the same eight-speed auto and AWD system.

So, what do you think – would you give up the three-row CUV space for a feisty two-door Chevy Traverse 'Coupe' RS Sport if it featured a mighty V8 under the hood and sporty tweaks all over the place?
