Waiting times must indeed be discouraging for those who are after buying a car. That is why sometimes, people would rather turn to the used car market to get a car they would otherwise spend months waiting for.
That pretty much explains part of this story. A purple 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock sold for around $40,000 more than dealerships ask for the car. Someone paid $129,900 to take it home. Dodge sells the exact same model for $89,300. But with all the extras the car has been specced with, it still doesn’t add up.

Yes, it was sold on the used car market. But “used” is not exactly the right word for this car. The odometer only shows 32 miles, and the driver's seat is still covered by the plastic wrapper.

But what did the new owner get for the money? The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock is powered by the 6.2-liter V8 HEMI engine. The car comes with 807 horsepower and 707 lb-ft. There is an eight-speed automatic that sends everything that HEMI has got to the rear wheels. The SRT runs on 18-inch forged aluminum wheels shod with drag radial tires.

There are heated seats on board, and the driver gets a four-way power adjustable lumbar support. They also get to browse through the menu of the Uconnect system via the 8.4-inch touchscreen. A heated leather-wrapped steering wheel is also on the list.

The car is still under warranty, since Dodge offers it for 36,000 miles or 36 months. The HEMI is under warranty for 60,000 miles or five years.

The one who placed the highest bid has to transfer the money within seven days from the moment the listing closes (about an hour before publication). Then they will have to fly to Fredericksburg, Virginia, and drive back home in this 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT.

Why did this Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock sell for so much money?

The Challenger SRT sold on eBay is one of the 274 built for 2023. Of the 274, only 28 are supposed to wear this head-turning color, Plum Crazy. So these figures only enhance the exclusivity factor.

But wait, there is more! July 31st was the day Dodge stopped taking orders for the HEMI-powered cars. The carmaker will be putting an end to production by the end of the year. That is why the carmaker has sent out the Last Call series.

That means that the used car market is the only chance for those who still want to get their hands on a HEMI. Otherwise, everyone out there will have to wait for the new Challenger generation. That one will ditch the V8 for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane that already powers the plug-in hybrid Dodge Hornet R/T.
