Is this really happening or are we looking at an outlier? Until recently, buyers have been sending out lowball offers left and right for Demon 170-spec Challengers in a bid to lower their market value, and guess what, it’s worked like a charm. Could the same be happening with Z06-spec C8 Corvettes?
The Z06 and the Demon 170 are two very different vehicles, not just by design, but also in availability, although when it comes to 70th Anniversary Edition Z06 Vettes, the numbers actually favor the GM product, instead of the Dodge. Yes, I was surprised too.

Compared to the roughly 3,300 Challenger Demon 170 units available, Chevy is only making 1,022 70th Anniversary Z06 models, of which 389 are coupes and 633 are convertibles, reportedly. So, technically, this Carbon Flash Metallic 2023 Corvette Z06 Convertible 3LZ Z07 is rarer than any Challenger Demon 170.

Yet, I “fear” the market will soon realize that these flagship Vettes have been riding their own wave long enough. Yes, they’re rare, fast and very valuable, but people aren’t going to keep paying $100k over MSRP indefinitely, especially since nobody’s buying these cars as collector's items, let’s be real about that. It’s just a flagship Corvette, and even that won’t be the case for too long with the all-new ZR1 inbound.

This Z06 came with a sticker price of $163,050, and just yesterday, its owner refused to part with it for $182,000. Now, we’ve seen these cars go for $200k easy in recent weeks, but if the bubble is bursting, you can expect more of them to get pulled from auction as their reserves aren’t going to be met.

More on this car, it’s only got 18 miles on the clock, and it comes with the Carbon Aero Package (Carbon Flash high wing, front dive planes, ground effects), a power-retractable hardtop, LED headlights, 70th Anniversary badging, staggered size wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, and red-painted Brembo calipers with carbon-ceramic rotors. You also get a front-axle lift system and the Z07 suspension.

Inside, you’ll find heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable GT2 bucket seats in Ceramic White and Jet Black upholstery, carbon fiber trim, the Stealth Interior Trim Package, a Bose sound system, head-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a heated carbon-fiber and microsuede-trimmed steering wheel.

As for what this can do on the road, its 5.5-liter LT6 V8 engine is good for 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, with everything going to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR-9080 eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It’ll get you to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

So then, is this worth more than $182,000 currently? I guess it’s worth whatever people are paying (or not paying) for it. A nearly identical Z06 sold for $228,000 a couple of weeks ago, although that one had literally never been driven.
