Three days from now, on November 15, in Carmel, California, Japanese automaker Toyota will be pulling the wraps off the new Corolla sedan meant for the North American market.
The reveal will come one day ahead of the car’s official introduction in China, at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition.

There is no official information yet on what the new version of one of the world’s most popular car will be all about, but expectations are the model will not be all that different from the version produced from China.

“The world’s most popular car is about to get greater than ever. Tune in to the live North American reveal of the all-new, 12th-generation 2020 Toyota Corolla on Thursday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m. PST,” said the Japanese in a statement.

Visually, at least on the front, the model is expected to take a lot of inspiration from he hatchback version shown earlier in the year.

Engine wise, it is to be expected the model will use the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit that on the hatchback develops 168 hp. Since the European version of the nameplate also comes with a hybrid variant, hopes are such a variant will be offered in the U.S. as well.

An even cleaner option, a plug-in hybrid, was announced ever since April for the Chinese market. There’s no telling whether the model will be making it stateside.

As per Toyota, the manufacturing of the Corolla will take place at the Blue Springs facility in Mississippi, where the carmaker will be investing $170 million and add 400 jobs.

“ResourceMFG will aid in recruiting approximately 400 new team members over the next 12 months,” said in a statement Sean Suggs, Toyota Mississippi president.

“These jobs will support production of the all-new Corolla, and we are excited to build more of them for our loyal customers.”
