Including the $1,095 destination charge, the C8 Corvette starts at $59,995 before optional extras. At this price point, Porsche sounds like a bad alternative given that the 718 Cayman features a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and six-speed manual instead of a small-block V8 and dual-clutch transmission.
“At once precise and powerful, the Corvette Stingray has been completely redesigned from the ground up to deliver a thrill on every drive,” according to Chevrolet. If you were wondering what comes standard in the 1LT, eight-way power seats wrapped in Mulan leather open the list.

Dual-zone climate control, a proximity key, power tilt and telescoping functions for the steering wheel, rear parking sensors, Brembo brakes, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, and 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.

Customers who want to unlock the potential of the Corvette Stingray need to shell out another $1,195 for the performance exhaust system, which bumps the LT2 from 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. And yes, the engine is naturally aspirated as opposed to the forced induction of the boxer in the Porsche. The Z51 Performance Package includes the said exhaust system, but costs $5,000.

For that kind of money, you’re looking at improvements to the suspension, cooling, a performance-oriented ratio for the rear axle, electronic limited-slip differential, rear spoiler, bigger brakes, and summer tires. If you were wondering, the range-topping 3LT trim level is $70,850.

Only the 2LT and 3LT can be optioned with a front-suspension lift for $1,495, something that you might want to choose given the deeper front spoiler of Z51-equipped models. Chevrolet claims the mid-engined Corvette Stingray is capable of 194 mph (312 km/h) on full song, four miles per hour more than the equivalent version of the seventh-gen ‘Vette.

On that note, what do you think about the pricing of the C8? We’re inclined to believe that Chevrolet did the right thing to keep it relatively affordable for most customers in the market for a sports car in this segment.
