At the 2019 New York International Auto Show back in April, the luxury brand of Japanese carmaker Honda presented the TLX PMC edition. Built to mimic the success of the NSX, this souped-up sedan is now arriving at dealerships across the U.S.
PMC stands for Performance Manufacturing Center, which Acura’s facility from where the NSX comes from. Thinking to capitalize on the allure of the NSX, Acura decided to come up with the model, named just like that, and then follow it up with a PMC version of the MDX SUV.

At the time of its unveiling, it was rumored the price for the car will be somewhere in the vicinity of $50,000. It is actually a bit higher than that: $50,945, including $1,995 destination and handling fee. That’s still well above the $36,000 or so the carmaker asks for the regular TLX.

So, what does one get for this kind of money?

Despite being advertised for having been made in the same facility from where the sports car comes, the TLX features no technical upgrades. At its heart sits the 3.5-liter V6 that in the usual range develops 294 hp with no modifications.

There are changes when it comes to the interior and exterior, however, as the PMC combines the features of the Advance Package with the A-Spec.

The car is painted in Valencia Red Pearl and comes with a body-colored grille surround and side mirror housings, gloss black painted roof and door handles, gloss black 19-inch wheels, and dark chrome 4-inch dual exhaust finishers.

On the inside, setting it apart from the regular TLX are black Milano leather seats with Alcantara inserts, A-Spec steering wheel in perforated black leather, red stitching and metal-finished paddle shifters.

There will not be all that many Acura TLX PMC made. The carmaker plans a production run of only 360 units, each of them individually numbered.
