Put the 2019 Bentley Continental GT and the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe on a scale and you'll notice that their combined weight is enough to accommodate more than three supercars. As such, these Grand Tourers aren't exactly the kind of machines you'd expect to find in a track battle. Nevertheless, we're here to bring you just that.
This circuit fight takes place on Sachsenring, with the Bentley being the one that sets the pace, at least in this video, which comes from Auto Bild. This also makes for an opportunity to remind you that the new Conti GT was recently spotted in London traffic.
We don't want to throw too many spoilers your way, which is why we won't mention the chronograph numbers of the two. Nevertheless, we can let it slip that the stopwatch fight did have a decisive winner.
Then again, since it's rather unlikely that owners of the two will wish to engage in track day events, we're more interesting in the behavior of the Affalterbach and the Crewe toys.
While the Brit seems to conceal the amount of work the chassis is doing through the twists, it can't hide its mass when it comes to the tire torture soundtrack.
As for the S63 Coupe, this seems to be slightly more playful through the corners, even though the notion is a bit stretched in this case. Regardless, you should keep in mind that both the 635 hp W12 Bentley and the 612 hp V8 Merc come with all-paw hardware.
Interestingly, both the Brit's twin-turbo 6.0-liter motor and the German's also-TT 4.0-liter heart deliver 900 Nm of twist, which is quite enough to make any problem go away with a touch of the gas pedal, albeit only when going straight.
Regardless of which of the two floats your boat, you should grab a bag of popcorn and allow this heavyweight brawl to entertain you.
