In its quest to sell a proper halo vehicle in the Middle Kingdom, Ford decided to bring the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor to China. This is rather intriguing because, believe it or not, this is the first full-size pickup truck of American origin to set foot on Chinese soil. Pricing? Don’t even ask.
After adding the import tariffs, shipping charge, dealer markups, and taxes, the Ford Mustang GT balloons from $36,395 in the United States to $128,680 in China. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor in SuperCab form is expected to cost $50,000 in the United States when it goes on sale later this year. Would it be crazy to estimate its price in China at $175,000 or so? Oh, wait, scrap that, it’ll be worth a king’s ransom because the Chinese will get the SuperCrew cab style, not the SuperCab variant of the Raptor.

Be that as it may, FoMoCo is proud to offer the dune runner in the People’s Republic of China. “F-150 Raptor represents the very best of what Ford can accomplish with its world-class engineering and design teams, and its long history of building tough, capable and versatile trucks,” said Jamal Hameedi, global chief program engineer at the Ford Performance skunkworks. “We are thrilled to offer our customers in China the chance to experience new levels of off-road performance with the all-new F-150 Raptor.”

The Blue Oval still keeps its lips shut regarding the output and performance credentials of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, albeit Raj Nair, the global product development vice president, has previously declared that we shouldn’t expect more than 450 horsepower. It’s an appropriate number, especially because it’s one that should put the former-gen Raptor to the wall regarding straight line performance.

Despite the fact that the Raptor lost two of its cylinders, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost is undoubtedly more torquey than the 6.2-liter V8 of yesteryear. The aluminum construction is another joker card, one that will enhance the go-faster credentials and handling dynamics of the F-150 Raptor. More details about this seriously cool workhorse can be found in the release below.
