2017 Ford GT to Get Hennessey Performance Upgrade Despite Limited Production

One future vehicle that will be incredibly difficult to explain to non-car people is the Ford GT. Not caring about what the "general" population believes, trying to justify the rumored $400,000 price tag to somebody who will only see the beast as an aero-tweaked Ford will certainly prove to be a challenge.
Well, imagine adding a hefty tuning job on top of all that. Yes, we know, given the fact that we're still completing the stage where we get excited about a prototype sighting, it's a little early to talk about the aftermarket world getting its hands spanners and laptops on the upcoming Blue Oval supercar.

However, Hennessey Performance has quietly teased an upgrade program for the future Ford halo car. The Texan tuner's website now lists the 2017 Ford GT as one of the cars the company is set to cover.

"Stay tuned for more upgrade information for the 2017 Ford GT powered by the EcoBoost V6 Twin Turbo 3.5L motor. Planned upgrades include: high flow air induction systems, engine management tuning upgrades, high-flow intercooler systems, exhaust system upgrades, twin turbo system upgrades, engine upgrades and more," the Lone Star State developer explains on its website.

While we've seen Hennessey mentioning similar upgrades for future cars, the sheer idea of such a project is enough to grab our attention. For one thing, Ford will only bring 250 units of the new-age GT to the world each year and, providing you have the money for one, you'll have to go to great lengths to prove you're worthy of becoming an owner.

Even so, we're certain Hennessey will find a way in. After all, the tuning specialist does still offer an upgrade program for the 2005-2006 Ford GT and it can upgrade your now-senior Ford supercar to either 700 or 850 ponies.

Amusingly, we still don't know how far past the 600 hp border the twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 of the 2017 GT will climb, but we'll bring you more info on this Hennessey topic as soon as we get our hands on it.
