Renault has disclosed official information and a full photo gallery for the 2016 Fluence GT Line. It's a sporty new trim level that aims to incorporate elements from the RS line, but without compromising on comfort.
Based on the top-of-the-range Dynamique trim version, the model is equipped with a 2-liter 16-valve engine that produces 143 horsepower on ethanol and 141 hp when running on gasoline. It's virtually the same mill they used for the new Sandero RS, but without a few ponies. What's really different is the choice of transmission, as a CVT has been installed. It simulates the workings of a 6-speed automatic to make the Fluence GT Line feel a little bit sporty.

Among the standard equipment offered by the Fluence GT Line, we'd mention digital air conditioning, electrically assisted power steering, a media center with reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers, a smart key, powered sunroof, front and side airbags, ABS brakes leather seats with red stitching, cruise control and a digital speedometer.

But the GT Line differs from all the other Fluence sedans though its cosmetic package. This starts at the front with a new front bumper that features silver air blades and a deep chin spoiler. The grille is painted black, and the headlights have a slight tint.

Down the side, we notice larger wheels painted in gunmetal gray and a set of rocker panels to give the sedan a muscular appearance. The back shows a discrete trunk lip spoiler, a new insert for the lower part of the bumper and tinted taillights.

The new Fluence GT Line is offered in Brazil only in Glacial White, Nacre Black and Fire Red.

The Fluence is a family sedan launched in 2009 as a replacement for the 3-box Megane. It is also made by Samsung in South Korea, where it's sold under the name SM3. In 2011, it became one of the first Renault models to be powered by an electric motor and battery, but this version was later discontinued.
