The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Chassis Cab is the latest addition in the alternative fuel lineup of Chevy-branded workhorses. The bi-fuel heavy-duty pickup truck joins the bi-fuel Silverado 2500 and 3500HD and the CNG-fed Express van.
Compared to gasoline-fed powerplants, engines adapted to run on compressed natural gas have some aces up their sleeves. CNG burns cleaner than the jungle juice they call gas in the US and costs less at the pump. For the latter reason, the CNG alternative is appealing to fleet customers.

By offering a turnkey bi-fuel option for the chassis cab configuration of the Silverado 3500HD, Chevy tends to many customers’ needs. Whether we’re dealing with a delivery service, municipal waste or car towing services, CNG is one step ahead of gasoline on the long run in terms of expenses. The 6-liter V8 tower-of-power is able to provide up to 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque. On CNG, the mill produces 301 ponies and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm).

In addition to the 23.5-gallon (89 l) gasoline tank, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD CNG is fitted with a 24.5-gallon (92.7 liters) compressed natural gas tank for good range between fill-ups. The bi-fuel Silverado 3500HD CNG will be made available on the regular cab in 2WD and 4WD guise starting in the fourth quarter of the year.

For qualified fleet customers, the 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty covers the CNG fuel system and its components. When it comes to retail customers, the bi-fuel CNG system is covered under the Chevrolet Complete Care 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. In addition to those above, all of us get two years or 24k miles of scheduled maintenance.
