The Superb is likely going to be the biggest debut of 2015 for Czech carmaker Skoda. And not surprisingly, they are pulling out all the stops in order for us to get excited. The Mk3 sedan will debut tomorrow, February 17th, but we can take one final veiled glimpse thanks to a teaser video.
It shows a parallel between the brand new car and its classic equivalent, likely a 1939 Superb which Skoda has in its museum. It's kind of a roundabout way to suggest there's heritage involved, since the people who were alive in the year Hitler invaded Poland probably don't do much driving today.

Turning our attention from the old back to the new, this Superb model is the second Skoda based on the MQB platform. It will share some components and engines with the 2015 Passat B8 and could prove to be quite popular.

A total of eight engines will be available, with displacements ranging from 1.4 to 2.0 liters and outputs between 120 hp and 280 hp. Thanks to the MQB platform, the Superb will be 75 kg lighter, while the massive 80 mm increase in wheelbase to 2.84 meters will boot legroom to Mercedes E-Class levels.

We've learned that adaptive suspension and selectable driving modes will be available, but the 12.3-inch digital speedometer from the Passat won't. And that kind of sets the tone Superb – a flagship Skoda model that hasn't been allowed to be as good as an average Volkswagen.

"The new Skoda Superb inspires with clear geometry, striking contoured surfaces, sculptural shapes and elegant lines from the front to the rear. ‘A fine finish right down to the smallest detail’ was the motto for the development of the new top model – precise, sophisticated and striking as never before," Skoda says about its design exercise.
