See that teaser image above? That’s the 2016 Range Rover Evoque giving you the wink just before its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Though the Evoque was only recently updated with the 9-speed ZF automatic transmission and the Active Driveline, some other add-ons are in the pipeline.
Going on sale in the US in October 2015, the 2016 Range Rover Evoque compact luxury crossover SUV will be the first LR model ever to get full LED adaptive headlights. As you would also expect, these units will be offered as an option, but the design is eye candy-grade so we’re not complaining by their optionality.
What else is new about the latest incarnation of the best-selling Land Rover nameplate currently in production?
Besides the distinctive design of the full LED adaptive headlamps, we’re told that this lighting technology is able to provide better levels of illumination in the dark, but also follow the curves of the road ahead. Yawn...
We have a sneaking’ suspicion that engineers have did more than just a set of adaptive LED headlights, so let’s wait and see what the LR conference at the Geneva Motor Show will unveil about the 2016 Range Rover Evoque. Additionally, RR is adamant that the updated Evoque “includes a new engine line-up, additional convenience features, and interior enhancements all wrapped in the trademark exterior design.”
If our two cents are at stake, we’d bet both of them on the Ingenium 2-liter turbo petrol and diesel family that debuted on the Jaguar XE sedan. The most powerful petrol-fed Ingenium motor churns out 240 PS (177 kw / 236 HP) and 340 Nm (250 lb-ft), while the most potent oil burner claims 180 PS (132 kW / 177 HP) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of twist. Both Ingenium engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
