Great news arrives from Mandello del Lario as MotoGuzzi announces a major revamping of one of their all-time popular machine, the V7. Dubbed the V7 II, the new naked bike receives a host of technological upgrades aimed at making riding it a more rewarding experience while also adding to the safety side.
One of the biggest technological upgrades of the V7 II is the all-new gearbox and accompanying clutch. Moto Guzzi opted for a sportier spirit for the new V7, and a close-ratio transmission replaced the old one. This means that the engine revs will be maintained in a higher range when shifting, allowing a smoother ride. To compensate for the higher revs, a 6th gear was added, and it provides highway cruising speed without stressing the engine. A matching new clutch is also present to offer consistent power delivery.
Moto Guzzi engineers lowered the engine position by some 10mm (0.4 inch) and tilted it 4 degrees forward. The V7 II is thus more stable, as the center of gravity is closer to the ground, while the slight tilt provides more leg room for taller riders. Overall, the bike is 25mm (1 inch) lower, now being even more suitable for shorter riders.
The bike retains its retro character, but the new version arrives with ABS and traction control, one of the features we just don’t see in such motorcycles, but which will definitely make riding the 2015 Moto Guzzi V7 II much more interesting when conditions are less than perfect.
No price was announced, but we’re positive that the bike will debut at the home show, EICMA, or even sooner, at the Intermot. It will reach European dealerships in November 2014, and since the V7 is already sold in North America, we’re expecting it across the pond, as well. The V7 II will also be available in three versions: Stone (pictured), easy to recognize by its matte colors, Special, available in 3 more color schemes, and Racer, with a solo seat, lower bars and the killer chrome bodywork.
