Now at its third generation, the Kia Sportage has received a minor update for the 2015 MY. The South Korean manufacturer's compact crossover is now boasting with a series of new creature comforts designed to make life on board the Sportage a tad more enjoyable for both driver and passengers.
First of all, we deem necessary to mention that there's a slim price difference between the 2014 and 2015 Kia Sportage. Boasting with the same 182 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder and the same 21 mpg city / 28 mph highway as before, the entry-level LX trim level is now $150 more expensive at $21,750 excluding destination, title, license and other costs.

With that detail out of the way, the 2015 model year in LX guise offers a lot of standard bits and bobs, including 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth for all your iOS and Android mobile phones, keyless entry, solar glass and a six-speed automatic transmission dubbed Sportmatic. All trim levels get rear vents, while ventilated front passenger seat is an optional extra. Furthermore, another completely standard feature on all three trims is represented by Apple USB compatibility. If you want more power, then the 2.4-liter GDI can be replaced with a 2-liter turbo engine, but that's only available on the range-topping SX trim. For added driver comfort, a tilt and telescopic steering column is standard across all trims. What's else is on offer?

Well, the $25,150 mid-range EX offers 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55R18 rubber, cool LED turn signals on the outside mirrors, roof rails, a rear spoiler, fog lamps, chrome body trim and door handles, as well as high-performance dampers for added comfort. Moreover, buyers will also get the UVO media system that utilizes the eServices telematics suite enabled by a free smartphone app that provides drivers with in-vehicle diagnostics capabilities and added convenience features. UVO is short for "Your Voice" and promotes driver convenience through voice recognition technology, allowing the driver to control music and phone operations while keeping hands on the steering wheel and eyes on the road. Equipped with UVO eServices, the 2015 Kia Sportage also gets a parking camera and auto headlamps.

Some other highlight features that come as standard with the 2015 Kia Sportage EX are the heated front seats and mirrors and the Infinity Premium Audio system. An optional Premium Package adds navigation with SiriusXM Traffic, leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, smart key with push-button start and power-folding mirrors. Step up to the $28,100 SX trim level, which will be available starting with the 1st quarter of 2015, and you get a powerful 2-liter turbocharged GDI engine producing 260 horsepower, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust, sculpted side sill moldings, LED accent lighting along the headlamps for a sportier, more upscale appearance and a unique SX grille.
