If you were to name a characteristic of a King what would it be? Majestic? Gracious? Hard to reach? All of those are justifiable but we think a member of the Royal family needs space first and foremost and for its size and segment, the 2015 Honda Fit excels in this department.
However, there’s a a lot more at play here than just wide opening doors, a generous boot and four-way adjustable seats. Headroom is excellent up front and decent in the back where you can actually recline the back seats, something you don’t normally see on cars of this price tag.
There’s a conundrum inside the cabin though, as Honda used a lot more soft surfaces but not on the essential places. You’d like those cushioning parts to be located where you’ll bump against them the most, like the door armrest and the center armrest but they simply don’t cut it.
The climate and audio controls are easy to reach and understand and while the touch-sensitive surface of the former are hard to pinpoint on bumpy roads, they get the job done most of the time. There’s an abundance of cupholders and storage spots all over, including left of the instrument cluster where we didn’t expect to see one, to be honest.
The ride is really nice and you get confident brakes and accurate steering on the new Honda Fit. The 1.5-liter engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and delivers 130 HP and 114 lb-ft (150 Nm) of torque that might not be enough for adrenaline junkies. That’s basically the only important flaw of the car.
When it comes to the ultimate advantage over the competition, it’s easy to see where it lies: the price tag. Costing just a little over $15,000 you get a rearview camera, auto headlights, 5” audio display, cruise control, power windows and door locks, AC and steering wheel mounted audio controls. All in all, our 2015 Honda Fit review found the car worthy of a king. A more modest king but still royalty and you can get yourself some full HD wallpapers from it.
