Word has it the next-generation Ford Edge, which is scheduled to go on sale in Europe as well, will be unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
According to Autocar, the global SUV will ride on a Mondeo platform and will become Ford's biggest European SUV. The vehicle will be sold on the Old Continent along the Blue Oval's other two SUVs - the Fiesta-based Ecosport and the Focus-based Kuga.
Little is known about the 2015 Edge, but engine options will likely start with a basic 2.5-liter, followed by the 1.6 EcoBoost, 2.0 EcoBoost and maybe a bigger turbocharged four-cylinder unit. A hybrid version of the SUV is also in the books.
The vehicle's styling is still a mystery apart from the lousy presentation photo that leaked earlier this year. Our photographers spotted an Edge prototype during testing last month, but the SUV was heavily camouflaged, with no details out in the open.
