Ford Motor Co. will offer a Shelby version of the sixth-generation Mustang for the 2015 model year, according to a body code chart from the Detroit-based automaker that surfaced the Internet earlier today.
The chart, which was revealed by the Mustang6G forums, says the 2015 Ford Mustang will become available in three variants - V6, GT and Shelby - all of them offered with coupe and convertible body styles. The 4-cylinder EcoBoost version doesn’t appear on the chart, but it seems it will have the same code as the V6 model.
This means that the EcoBoost won’t be an upgrade to the entry-level V6, as speculated in the past. The base Mustang will just feature two engine choices below the GT (V8) and the range-topping Shelby.
The chart doesn’t confirm that the Shelby will be marketed as a GT350, but the iconic name already appeared on a Ford dealer promo site we reported about earlier this month. There’s no word on performance figures, but expect the Shelby GT350 to go north of 450 horsepower.
