When you hand-build a supercar like Dodge does with the Viper at the Corner Avenue Assembly plant in Detroit, you may need to explain it in order for people to fully understand its ways. Back in January, the carmaker talked about a new virtual toy that serves just such a purpose and here we are, playing with the new 2015 Viper GTC configurator.
At the beginning of the year, Dodge decided to fully exploit the exclusivity asset the Viper offers over its competition, introducing the GTC one-of-one order program.

The configurator is just a part of the story, but the important thing is that the tool is now online. If you're a car enthusiast, perhaps you've filled one or two lunch breaks with configuring your favorite go-fast machine and Dodge now wants you to play the Viper game.

Sure, the new online enticement scheme doesn't have the depth of a Porsche configurator, but it does offer a story-like aroma.

The GTC is born as a mid-range Viper GT and yet allows you to fully customize it. Don't worry, in case you create your perfect snake and somebody tries to copy you, the automaker won’t allow that to happen. At least not during the same model year.

Once you mold the snake into form and express your buying intentions, Dodge will send you a 1:18 scale model of your car, so you can be sure you’ve made the right choice.

You’ll also receive access to the Viper Concierge, which allows you to keep track of the build process. After all, when specialist spend between 140 and 160 man hours to paint your Viper, you’ll probably want to see the magic taking place.

While the Viper’s base price has dropped to $89,090 in a bid to resurrect sales, the GTC model costs $94,995. Keep in mind that this is the starting point. From here, you can choose between 8,000 hand-painted exterior colors, 24,000 hand-painted custom stripes, 11 wheel options, 16 interior trims, seven aero packages, three brake packages, four suspension options, as well as custom options, such as one that allows you to swap the GT and the GTS hoods.

Dodge has already started assembling the 2015 Viper GTC, so you’re free to play as you like.
