Today was one lucky day for BMW enthusiasts all over the world and then some. One lucky guy, wearing a helmet-mounted camera managed to somehow stumble upon the brand new, yet unreleased, BMW F80 M3 whilst the new sedan was shooting a video for its official launch.

Just as promised, the car is wearing what BMW calls Yas Marina Blue, a new color that will be exclusive to the M3 just like Aurum Dust is for the M4. From the looks of it, little has changed compared to the M4 Concept that was released earlier this year but the color is simply beautiful.

Fortunately for us, the biker caught the car as it was making what appears to be a U-turn and therefore got shots of it from every side. Even though they are not of the best quality, we can still make out most of the car’s design lines.

The bonnet retains the power dome just as on the E90 model it replaces but it has a smaller size, probably because the engine is smaller too. Smaller but more powerful. According to initial reports from BMW (that refused to reveal the exact numbers) the engine will have around 10 extra HP compared to its predecessor but a lot more torque (over 500 Nm) coming out of 3 liters of displacement.

The front fascia looks really mean and aggressive, with a short overhang and an M badge on the kidney grille, similar to the one found on the M6. On the side, the gills have been replaced by air breathers whilst the wheels resemble the design found on the M6 Gran Coupe.

At the back, the boot lid has an integrated spoiler that is also showcasing the CFRP roof. That’s not the only CFRP part on this car though, as the whole idea behind the new model was to make it lighter. BMW’s innovative material was also used for the crank and even the drivetrain, getting this bad boy under the 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs) limit.

So, this is it! the 2015 M3, seen for the first time on our blog, ahead of its Detroit debut. What do you think about it? Is it aggressive enough?
