Cool news for the youngest riders, as Aprilia announces its all-new RS4 50 Replica, an entry-point sport bike with an extremely cool silver livery, inspired from that of the actual machines factory riders Sylvain Guintoli and Marco Melandri are riding in the 2014 World Superbike Championship.
The RS4 50 Replica shares the same chassis as its bigger sibling, the 125 Replica, a dual lateral beam aluminium structure, with crossed reinforcement elements for enhanced torsional rigidity in spite of the rather diminutive dimensions. The bike rolls with the same 41mm, black anodized inverted forks, with 110mm (4.3”) travel. The rear suspension is taken care of by an asymmetrical swingarm with a rear hydraulic damper offering 122mm (4.8”) of travel.
Braking power comes from a 218mm stainless steel disc in the rear, squeezed by a single-piston caliper, while the front is equipped with a 300mm rotor with a radial 4-pot caliper. Both lines are steel braided. The cast lightweight 17” wheels are shod with radial tubeless tires.
Aprilia uses a 49.9cc two-stroke single engine inside the new RS4 50 Replica, which is expected to provide quite a punch, even though the Noale manufacturer doesn’t specify power of torque figures yet. Being a race-minded machine, the RS4 50 Replica uses liquid cooling.
The 820mm-tall seat (32.3”) should not be problematic for any rider, save for the really short ones. Converting the RS4 50 Replica from a solo racer to a two-up bike is really easy, as the passenger seat cover can be installed/uninstalled quickly and easily, with a quick-lock button, and no screws are needed. The tank can hold 14.5 liters of fuel (3.8 US gal) and should make gas station stops quite a rare thing. A small storage place is located under the seat.
