Spanish automaker SEAT has finally unveiled the 2014 Leon ST estate. Although no new photos, apart from those we’ve already seen yesterday, have been published, the Spaniards have revealed full details on the the station wagon.
Based on the third generation Leon, the new ST is described as a vehicle that “combines stunning looks with outstanding practicality”, the latter meaning a 587-liter boot that can be stretched to 1,470 liters thanks to a 270mm increased rear overhang. Although the vehicle is 45 kg heavier than the hatchback, the ST estate remains the lightest car in its class with a total weight of 1,233 kg.
Moving on to the engine lineup, probably the details most of you have been waiting for, the 2014 SEAT Leon ST will be offered with 1.2-liter TSI engines rated at 86 HP and 105 HP, while the larger 1.4-liter TSI will develop 122 HP and 140 HP. The most powerful gasoline version, the FR, will arrive with the 1.8-liter TSI unit that’s good for 180 HP. The company will also offer three diesel versions - a 1.6-liter TDI with 90 HP, a 2.0-liter TDI with 150 HP, and a more powerful 2.0-liter TDI with 184 HP for the FR model.
