Spanish rain went against the efforts of Ducati Corse and put an early end to the MotoGP team’s test at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.
With changing weather on Wednesday and overnight rain, the track was unable to dry out completely, preventing the team and riders to take advantage of the circuit and prepare for the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez in early May. Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Dovizioso put in several laps, but were unable to post significant times.

Instead, the two Ducati riders shot a promotional video for the Borgo Panigale group and the engineers were only able to confirm that the factory-spec bike electronics installed for the debut round in Qatar were working properly. Benefitting from the more relaxed regulations of the Open class Ducati adhered to, the Italian team has only one restriction as far as testing is concerned: test rides on any track are not allowed beyond the 2-weeks limit before a GP round takes place on that specific circuit.

Coupling the freedom of testing with the lack of restrictions for engine development throughout the season, Ducati has almost complete freedom to work on the 2015 machine and for what’s worth, any other possible new prototype Gigi Dall’Igna is thinking about. And this means that the next season could indeed bring better Ducati machines on the grid, increasing the competitiveness of the whole series.
