Chevrolet has announced pricing information and EPA estimates for the redesigned 2014 Malibu mid-size sedan. Besides the new and more attractive design, the Malibu comes with improved fuel efficiency that can return as much as 36 miles per gallon on the highway, 2 mpg more than the 2013 model.
The aforementioned figure is available for the 2.5-liter four-cylinder version equipped with stop/start technology and Intake Valve Lift Control, which also returns 25 mpg in the city and 29 mpg combined. According to Chevy, the Malibu tops the 2014 Toyota Camry (2.5-liter), the 2013 Kia Optima (2.4-liter) and the 2013 Hyundai Sonata (2.4-liter).
Moving on to prices, the 2014 Malibu will start at $22,140, not including the $825 destination fee, which means a $145 increase over the 2013 model. For the range-topping LTZ trim, future customers will have to come up with at least $28,515.
