2013 Shelby GT500 Handling Testing on VIR

Ford has released a new video that takes us behind the scenes of the 2013 Shleby GT 500 and this time the story is all about handling. The muscle car’s suspension was heavily tested with the playground of choice being the Virginia International Raceway. The test took place in September last year and now the Blue Oval wants to show us something we’d call “the epitome of live rear axles”.
We don’t want to be mean or anything, we absolutely love the GT 500, but we’d love to see the ‘Stang (all versions, not just this one) ditch its live rear axle for a more modern rear suspension layout.

And because Santa Clause does exist, we’ll remind you that Ford recently announced it is working on an upgrade that will see the live rear axle in the Mustang swapped with a multi-link setup. However, this will only be offered for the drift-focused, but still street legal, Mustang RTR.
