August may bring a break in the MotoGP season, but this is only as far as racing itself is concerned, as the factories are still working hard to better their machines for the second half of the world series. Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki engineers are busy bees, and this week brings track action in the Czech Republic and Japan.
Yamaha has a 2-day test scheduled at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic, a most welcomed preview of the late-August MotoGP round. Jorge Lorenzo has high hopes of being able to ride much better with his recovering left collarbone fracture, while Valentino Rossi is keen to improve his bike's setup and make the most possible of his first season back on Yamaha machinery.

Having finished on the podium in the last three races, things look good for Rossi, as it seems like he is getting closer to the setups which work best for him

On the other side of the globe, Honda and Suzuki are testing their machinery at the Twin Ring circuit in Motegi, Japan. There's plenty of time until late October when the MotoGP fills the Motegi paddocks, so the two teams are working on longer-term development.

Honda will have Casey Stoner testing the bike they plan to lease to other teams in 2014 and possibly more, while Suzuki is still working on the development of the prototype they plan to be back with in 2015. Suzuki will have Randy de Puniet and Nobuatsu Aoki as test riders.

Yamaha is also present at Motegi with test riders duo Katsuyki Nakasuga and Wataru Yoshikawa.

The 2013 MotoGP series resumes on August 16, with the Indianapolis round, possibly the last time these bikes race at the Brickyard for an unknown period of time.
