The world rankings changed leader past Sunday on the intricate circuit Sachsenring, in Germany, as Repsol Honda's rookie extraordinaire Marc Marquez claimed his second victory in his debut MotoGP season.
Cal Crutchlow got his 4th podium in a row as he finished the race in the second position, with Valentino Rossi third, for the second time in a row on a MotoGP podium. With Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa out because of the injuries they sustained prior to the race on Sunday, it was time for others to shine and score important points in the championship.

The German round saw Stefan Bradl in fourth, Alvaro Bautista in 5th and Bradley Smith in 6th, getting the best of Ducati's Dovizioso, Hayden and Pirro (places 7, 9 and 10, respectively) and his direct CRT rival Aleix Espargaro who went past the finish line with the 8th fastest time.

Hiroshi Aoyama, who recently had a part of his ring finger amputated, was consistent with the FP times and finished 17th at Sachsenring.

The current rankings see Marquez leading Pedrosa by 2 points only, with Lorenzo in third at an 11-point distance. Crutchlow and Rossi switched places, with the Englishman now 4th with a 6-point advantage over the Doctor.

Little time for resting, as the Laguna Seca round in the US is just around the corner, next weekend, before the summer brake.
